First time trying this place, always passed it and within walking distance. Tried the ocean perch and some sides, now I'll never take the long drive to long john silvers with this place meeting my seafood needs.

Foods good! Service is bad. Now I see why the tip jar is always empty😑

This was my first visit. My fried catfish was perfectly fried and perfectly seasoned. Friendly staff and speedy service. I will recommend to my friends and family and I will be making another trip back soon.

I think I forgot to take pictures before diving in!! This little gem in Kansas City has great food....it seemed to be a popular spot and was very busy so I would suggest calling your order in. Food was hot fresh and worth the wait. We ordered catfish filets, popcorn shrimp, greens (collard) and mac n cheese. Check them out!

The Food; was amazing! I always judge Italian restaurants off of their basics so I ordered their spaghetti and meatballs. They were perfectly done and the marinara sauce tasted fresh and had some sweetness to it from the tomatoes themselves which was delicious. Also ordered the chicken Alfredo which was so creamy and hot when it came out.

Very Ghetto Establishment, you call on the phone and they answer very rudley and rhen they hang up on you before you can place your order.When you try to call back the line is busy,this place sucks and their food taste like it's cooked in old grease.

06-17-2020- I am always pleasantly surprised by this Company’s fresh fish selections!! Please review your customer care policies with your restaurant employees. Phone etiquette is lacking. Customers are being ignored at the counter & not greeted with a smile nor any dialogue that is welcoming. Why can’t this be a consistently pleasant restaurant? The fish mongers are excellent in knowledge and customer care (5*****)! They will greet and smile at you. The restaurant side needs extensive training on how to answer the phone, language usage and how to handle customers at the counter. Restaurant lacks class & gives the I-don’t-care-about-you vibe. If someone request a fry on the fish as extra extra extra crispy-please do so. Thank you.

Best fried fish place I've found since moving to KC. I always get the D.C.T with badass and it's enough to feed 3 people or 2 with leftovers. All the sides I've had have been great also.

Best place to get fish. We called in our order while on the road. Quick and easy. There was a mix up twice resulting in delay in getting our order after we got there, it was resolved satisfactorily.

Mad Jack's is the place to get your fish hook-up. Great selection, great service, and good prices. My signature dish is the catfish nuggets. Call ahead if your in a hurry.

The food was wonderful! The fried fish and shrimp tasted fresh and very flavorful. The breading on both items was perfect and not greasy at all. Everything on our plates were made fresh and definitely worth the drive out of the way. We will definitely be returning to try the other items on the menu!

Use to my favorite fish place of all time. Went here all my life! Knew most of the workers. Dont get me wrong still wonderful fish but those five pieces you get now for ten dollars just not as fulfilling as the catfish sandwiches use to be. Still love you cause you always been the best. But atleast two more pieces please!

Always an awesome meal! Tried their fried red snapper for the first time and it has excellent flavor. The fried okra is a must! Coleslaw was just your average coleslaw though. I'd definitely go with a different side such as the hush puppies.

They have a pretty impressive seafood lineup, but their fried jumbo shrimp are incredible! Love this place!

I happened to be in Kansas City, Kansas an thought I am not that far away and you deserve Mad Jack's. So worth the wait. I got there right before they closed and still got friendly service.

That catfish sandwich was fall apart tender! The service was impeccable. The ambience delightful and fun. They also sell fresh fish and their own breading mix. Affordable and friendly. We're already planning our next visit!

Even though it's not on the Missouri side anymore. It's worth the drive to Kansas City Kansas

Everything was good!! They have great daily deals that aren't expensive and the food is good. Be prepared to wait because everything is made to order. That's their guarantee on fresh fish.

Mad Jack's is a Kansas City Kansas institution! I absolutely love this place. It is casual but clean and spiffy. The counter clerk hollers your order back to the cooks. Old school. The fish is great. I get mine double dipped and O have not ever had any fish crispier. The sides are all good. The fresh seafood is fresh and the guys on that side of the room know their stuff as well. A few years ago I was injured and the woman carried my food to my car for me. It is that kind of spirit that they have there. Good food, good staff, clean affordable. Dont miss it.

Spent over $30 for two meals and it wasn't worth it. Haven't ate there for over a couple of years . I'll try it out The fish was cooked too long hard as a rock and over seasoned. The french fries were good. Used to be a pretty good place to eat fish the best I'd say but not anymore.

Really good fried food and generous portions. Tried a variety of orders... catfish, chicken strips, shrimp, fried okra and more... Everything was delicious!

Hush puppies and fish was great. Mac and cheese......yuck.

This is not a review of the food itself, but the service I have received. This is the second bad experience I have had with Charlie D's. The first experience. I arrived at Charlie D's right at 11:00am. I entered the building thinking I was going to place an order. Well there was a lady at the cash register counting money and instead of greeting me. She asked me, "How did you get in here?". I was a little puzzled, as I look back at the door. I told her through the door (I thought it was a trick question). She then informed me they were not opened yet (with less than a friendly tone), so I proceeded to leave out magic door I walked in, at this point she and another employee informed me it was ok. I could stay. I choose not to because now I don't feel like a properly greeted paying customer. I understand if you need to count your drawer, but someone in the inside unlocked the door, not me and it should have been open if you open at 11:00am. We need more professionalism people

LIVE ABUNDANTLY. Expensive but everything they make is excellent!! In my opinion one of the best seafood places in the midwest. Similar to Bristol without fancy decor. I have been going to Mad Jack's since my dad took me when I was a little girl. Dad was good friends with Dale of Dale's Auto Body repair shop, also an icon of this neighborhood. People would be SHOCKED if they knew what they had been missing all these years!! Forget Long John Silvers and Captain D's. Look em up, worth the drive to 13th & State Ave. from anywhere and everywhere!!!!

I ordered the Oysters from Mad Jack's and they fried it . It was very good. You can't tell that its oysters at all. It kinda tastes like fried chicken giblets. Their employees are very nice and have phone etiquette. Thank you

YES.....YES.....YES.....If you have never experienced MAD JACKS you are missing out FRFR.....they have FRESH FISH and Cooked will cook it for you. I have never gotten anything from there that I have not liked. They also are serving SMOKED CATFISH..... look at the picture and tell me if that fish don’t look DELICIOUS.... check them out

This place has been around since I was a little child. So it's kind of a iconic pillar of the community. My last review of this place was years ago oh, and I was in the area and I really wanted some fish. I decided to stop in and I am so glad I did. The inside of the place still looks the same well-loved but clean.
